Movie Time

It sounds like everyone likes the idea of making a movie. I think the biggest problem we will face is keeping it down to an appropriate length. It's so easy to start writing and then end up with an epic. If we each spent just 1 minute on our personal stories we already have a 5 minute video. We'll probably also want to talk a little about Wisconsin and America.

I can probably talk my brother into helping a bit, he's an excellent videographer. And we could come and get some video of everyone working and recreating. I can also import still pictures, music and text.

Individually each of us will need to come up with a short personal bio and think of things and people you want to include. As a group we'll want to decide on a narrative that describes life in Wisconsin and the United States. I have access to file video too, so if we want to talk about cows or the Wisconsin Legislature among other things, we can have a visual.

This sounds like fun! But I would stay away from anything political. Beside WI has so much to talk about! Like cows, football, baseball, door county cherries, fishing and camping, the Great Lakes, Lake Winnebago, cheese, House on the Rock, State Parks, natural wildlife, etc. I know that while I am looking for info on Morocco I peek at the political info but am more interested in the everyday, "how they live" information. So I would think that might be what they would like to know about us. Anyway, thats my two cents :)

Yes to what Katie said as well as what Lori said! :) The movie is such a great idea and it will be awesome to show to other rotary groups when it's all said and done.

Sorry I've been absent from this discussion. I've been thinking a lot about this movie. My brother, Jack, said that he wouldn't mind helping out. Does anybody work on the weekend? (or can pretend you're working on the weekend?) I think it would be easiest to try and get some of the shooting done on the weekends, especially in the Green Bay area.

The one piece of advice that Jack had was to make sure everyone had a clear idea of what we wanted to capture on video beforehand.

I also think we can use plenty of still pictures. I've started on a kind of draft...maybe I will try to post a video so you guys can see what I am thinking and critique it.

Wow! For the first time EVER I am happy to say that I work on the weekend! I work every Friday and Saturday night 6pm - 2am while school is in session. Which means with the breaks coming up I will be hopefully switching to a Mon - Fri schedule. But let me know what and when and we can make it happen!
